Richmond Vale Academy offers the A-certificate “Fighting with the Poor” in St-Vincent and the Grenadines.
The A-certificate is an 18 months study program, where we combine theoretical studies at the Academy and practical studies in projects, as well in the Caribbean, as in different project in Latin America. The program is cooperation between Richmond Vale Academy, One World University and Humana People to People.
The program:
- 6 months of studies in Richmond Vale Academy in St Vincent, study about causes and conditions of poverty, global warming, big issues of our world, health, inequality, the future of the Poor and Latin American studies. Preparations for the work in the project.
- 6 months of service in a project in a Latin American country with Humana People to People, which is running different community development projects in Ecuador and Belize. 6 months volunteering in the communities in those countries, and continuing studies.
- 6 months Journal period back in the Academy, sharing experiences with the world, producing a product about your experiences, working in St Vincent communities, finalizing studies and participating in exams through distance learning at One World University. Graduation and discussions and planning your Future.
You will live in an environment based on community. We grow our food, cook, clean and run the school as a collective. You will be engaged in learning sessions, study tasks, presentations, volunteer work, fundraising and more.
As you train to become a development instructor you will be challenged to stretch your mind and understanding of the world. As you train to become a development instructor you will learn about empowering the poor to create a sustainable future.
School fees apply. The enrollment fee is 500,- US$. The Tuition Fee is 4,900,- US$. The fees cover boarding and use of campus facilities for 18 months, program costs and operational expenses, food for 18 months. The fees also include flight tickets to- and from the country of destination and insurance for the 6 months while in the project country.

The only demands are to enter our programs, are to have a high school degree and a decent knowledge of the English language, which we will evaluate during the Skype interviews.

Once you have applied for the program, we will invite you for a first Skype interview. After the first discussions we will ask you to read our brochure and fill out some simple tasks, to assure you have understood the nature of our program and organization. To conclude your enrollment we will have an enrollment meeting on Skype where we go through the details of the contract and the payment.
By enrolling into our program you agree to abstain from the use of drugs and/or alcohol during the 18months of your program. Any violations regarding this agreement will automatically have the agreed consequences.
